Creating Green Theatre is a process of incremental changes to make the design and production process more sustainable. My work as a scenic and lighting design, scenic artist, and scene shop manager allowed me to experiment with processes and materials in an attempt to reduce the environmental impact of production live entertainment events. The suggestions are scaleable to any size venue or type of company.
Many people are interested in a move to green theatre, but do not know where to start the transition. The book includes ideas about how to perform a base line audit to determine what areas of production have the greatest environmental impact. It also offers some low cost, no cost actions to start the move toward green theatre at your company.
See the Going Green Page for inspiration. My suggestions focus on theatrical and entertainment events; however the ideas can be applied to any kind of business or to private dwellings.
